Most are extremely straight forward and can be carried by the client with little or no disruption to their day to day operations. Mailbox
The simplest way to migrate your existing email (and contacts, calendars, etc if appropriate) is to use the File Import and Export facility in Outlook:
- Export your folders as a .pst file to an easily remembered location such as your Desktop
- Set up the MS Exchange account using the profile supplied by SMS
- Import your folders into the new version of Outlook that your profile created
Your outlook client will now sync with server. Depending on the amount of data to import and the speed of your internet connection, the initial sync may take some time so you might want to choose a time to do it when your internet connection will be quiet.

Our support will contact you prior to your commencement date to discuss your existing data set up. They will then suggest a plan of action and timescale to fit in with your needs. This service is included as part of the set up fee for servers. |
Mailbox
Firstly decide on the method of user interface; Web, Outlook or Apple.
If using Outlook or Apple, download the appropriate connector from our Control Panel. Both connectors have an import facility that will then get your existing data and sync it with your ZimbraCS mailbox.
For Web users, follow the instructions in MS Exchange above to save your files to a .pst file. You then can use the tools in the web interface to import the data into your mailbox.

If you are changing your domain for your mail, there are two main options:
- Change the mx record on your domain to point at our servers
- Transfer the domain to us
The first is the simplest route to take. Most reputable registrars have a web interface where you can alter the records immediately. It propagates across the Internet very quickly, usually within 2 hours. Just remember to keep your existing mailbox open for a short period afterwards to make sure you don’t “lose” any email.
Transferring a domain is quite easy but can take up to a week to occur. Just fill in the transfer option on our order pages. We’ll do all the leg work for you but you should bear in mind that you cannot use your domain with your new mailbox until the transfer has been completed. We therefore suggest you keep your existing mailbox open until you start to receive mail in your new one. |
